When something happens and you are not really happy about the outcome, then you learn from it. You actually learn more if the outcome is negative. The brick walls are there for a reason. They’re not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something.
“Experience is what you get when you don’t get what you want“. This is a phrase worth considering at every brick wall we encounter, and at every disappointment. It’s also a reminder that failure is not just acceptable, it’s often essential. It means you learn from the experience of being given something different than what you wanted and find out it was for the best for your situation.
Life must be understood backwards; but… it must be lived forward. Experience is simply the name we give our mistakes and it is often the most valuable thing you have to offer. The challenge is to learn from our experiences, adjust our course and try different approaches. Don’t let bad experiences cause you to fail or give up, just rethink your position and move forward again.
Book learning is important, but it’s not the same thing as experience. You need both. Life is the art of drawing without an eraser. Good judgement is the result of experience … Experience is the result of bad judgement. Nothing is a waste of time if you use the experience wisely.
Summing-up: Experience is not what happens to a man, it is what a man does with what happens to him.
