The eighth Disease of Leadership is:
The disease of existential schizophrenia.
This is the disease of those who live a double life, the fruit of that hypocrisy typical of the mediocre and of a progressive emotional emptiness which no accomplishment or title can fill.
It is a disease which often strikes those who are no longer directly in touch with customers and “ordinary” employees, and restrict themselves to bureaucratic matters, thus losing contact with reality, with concrete people.
Losing touch with the people and the real world is a disease that will infect leaders the more removed they get, and is something leaders may suffer from the higher they rise.
They thus create their own parallel world, where they set aside all that the others harshly teach’ and live a ‘hidden’ and often ‘dissolute’ life.
Summing-up: Do you isolate yourself from customers and first-level employees? If this is the case, then you are maybe suffering from this disease of leadership.
